Therapeutic Indications
Amoxicillin is indicated for the following infections caused by susceptible bacteria:

1. Upper respiratory tract infections, including otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis, which are caused by hemolytic Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus, or Haemophilus influenzae.
2. Urogenital tract infections resulting from Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, or Enterococcus faecalis.
3. Skin and soft tissue infections caused by hemolytic Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, or Escherichia coli.
4. Lower respiratory tract infections like acute bronchitis and pneumonia, which are induced by hemolytic Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus, or Haemophilus influenzae.
5. Acute simple gonorrhea.
6. This product can also be used for the treatment of typhoid fever, typhoid carriers, and leptospirosis.

Dose and Method of Administration

• Oral administration.
• Adults: Take 0.5g every 6 - 8 hours, and the daily dose should not exceed 4g.
• Children: The daily dose is 20 - 40 mg/kg, taken every 8 hours.
• Infants under 3 months old: The daily dose is 30 mg/kg, taken every 12 hours.
• For patients with severe renal impairment, dosage adjustment is required.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of penicillin allergy and those with a positive penicillin skin test.
Special Warnings and Precautions for Use

1. Oral penicillin drugs may rarely cause anaphylactic shock, especially in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins or cephalosporins. 3. For patients with a long - term treatment course, liver and kidney function tests and blood routine examinations should be performed.
4. Amoxicillin may cause false - positive results in urine glucose tests using Benedit or Fehling reagents.

Interaction with Other Medicinal Products and Other Forms of Interaction

1. Probenecid competitively reduces the renal tubular secretion of this product. Concurrent use of the two may lead to an increase in amoxicillin blood concentration and a prolongation of its half - life.
2. Chloramphenicol, macrolides, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines interfere with the antibacterial effect of amoxicillin in vitro, although the clinical significance of this is unclear.
